Well, we opened today for our sale for the month of June. (FYI, we won't be open again until the second weekend in September!) We have had some local artisans bring in their work and it has been fun to say the least. We may be known as a little town south of Hot 'Lanta but let me tell you - "They got nothin' on talent in Atlanta!!"
Just take "a gander" at what has been brought in.........
First, let's start with local gardner, eco-friendly, conservation guru Jim Watson. Here is a beautiful bench he has made from walnut. All I can say is "Wow". The bench is simply beautiful.
Now, let's move on to his step-daughter, Lauren of "Lolly felt like it..." ("Lolly" - a childhood name I'm guessing?). She has as you can see, the motto "Green Crafting for a Better Tomorrow". She is a felt guru in her own right. She brought in so many different felt items it is amazing. Just check out the pictures.......

Now, for a change in artists............
Tiffany is a sewing guru. Her specialty is corsets - yes, corsets. Who knew women were still wearing them? She has quite an internet business for these corsets. Anyway, here is one she has brought in and oh my, it is of beautiful material and beautifully done. Now, a 23 inch waist? Maybe when I was three........

Ok, we've covered workworking, felt goods, corsets and now let's go for the visual arts. Charlie has discovered he likes to paint (Grandpa Moses?). Here are a few of his works...

On another note, I thought I'd put in a "Green Spot" idea. Last year and in many years past, we've had trouble with ants getting into our hummingbird feeder. I knew they wouldn't go over soap and finally figured out that if I put a capful of soap between them and the feeder, it might work. Well it did. Pictured here is a scoop with the handle broken off. (A drink bottle cap will work fine.) I took a nail and stuck it through the bottom, fixed a twist tie through it to hook it with the chain and then plugged the hole with hot glue. After that, I put in liguid dish detergent. This was last year and I haven't changed the detergent since then. It went through the winter with no problem and we have no ants in the feeder. It may look yucky at this point but it does work. If you have a "Green Spot" idea, please email it to me.
